Kinship Legal Clinic
The free, virtual legal clinic assists grandparents raising grandchildren (and other relatives raising kin) living in North Carolina with making well-informed decisions based on clear knowledge of their legal rights and responsibilities as they move through life transitions. Licensed attorneys will be available to answer questions. These free legal clinics for kin are brought to you by Creating a Family, a national nonprofit dedicated to supporting kinship families and the professionals who support them.
Register for the online Zoom meeting below. At registration, we ask that you submit your question to assist the lawyer in preparing for the clinic. During the clinic, questions will be answered on first-come, first-serve and participants will be given 15 minutes to discuss with the attorney online. Be prepared, this is an open clinic, participants will not be in a private setting with the lawyer.
If you have questions regarding financial assistance or other non-legal items, please visit and explore NCKinshipFamilies.org. We reserve the legal clinic for legal questions (custody orders, guardianship, permanency, adoption, etc.) that the lawyers can address.
