Grievance Policy

Creating a Family – The National Adoption and Infertility Education Nonprofit is committed to providing continuing education and professional training that complies with the standards, rules, and regulations of the Association of Social Work Boards ACE approval program. Creating a Family will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the Continuing Education Director in consultation with the social worker consultant and other organizational members.

While Creating a Family aims to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues that come to our attention that require intervention and/or action. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances.

When a grievance arises pertaining to  Creating a Family’s continuing education program or process, the complainant is expected to notify the Continuing Education Director in writing as soon as possible so that the nature of the concern may be addressed in a timely fashion. Written complaints or grievances should include: the name, address, and phone number of the person submitting the complaint or grievance; the title of the course; and the exact nature of the complaint or grievance.

The Continuing Education Director along with the Social Work Consultant will attempt to resolve the grievance immediately if possible. If immediate resolution is not possible they will bring the complaint to other organizational members for review as a group. All possible care will be taken to uphold the confidentiality of the complainant. A written response (including recommended action if necessary) will be formulated and conveyed directly to the complainant. A grievance concerning a course offering, content, technology, or costs may be resolved by modifications to future offerings, and/or by providing an alternative training opportunity, should that be possible.

Confidential records of all grievances, the process of resolving the grievance, and the outcome will be kept by the Continuing Education Director.  A copy of this Grievance Procedure will be available upon request.

Please contact the Continuing Education Director to submit a complaint or if you have additional questions.
