Location: Eastern Europe
Birth Year: 2014
Vincent was born post-term in April 2014 by emergent C-section. At birth he was diagnosed with severe asphyxia, meconium aspiration, and cerebral depression. At present he is diagnosed with undefined congenital abnormality of the neurologic system due to post-term pregnancy, convergent concomitant strabismus, undescended testicles, and delayed development. He receives daily therapy for the latter at his orphanage. Vincent sits and stands independently, moves about by crawling, and is able to walk with assistance. He shows appropriate fine motor coordination and catches and manipulates toys. When receiving individual attention, Vincent shows good focus for the activity at hand, such as arranging objects or performing the motions to accompany children’s songs. Vincent spontaneously produces vocal combinations and syllables. While his overall demeanor is described as calm and passive, Vincent smiles and laughs when teased and is comfortable playing and interacting with other children. He is uneasy around strangers, but responds well to familiar adults and actively seeks contact with them. He has formed a special bond with the physical therapist at his orphanage. Vincent eats and sleeps well. Sweet Vincent already shows the potential for improvement with respect to his delays. The additional resources, support, and nurturing of a forever family would undoubtedly have a significant impact on this little boy’s future.
