Teddy was born in November 2014 and has been diagnosed with spina bifida, Arnold– Chiari malformation/syndrome, hydrocephalus, strabismus, and club feet. He had surgery to address the spina bifida and a shunt was placed for the hydrocephalus right after birth. Teddy has not yet received any treatment for his club feet. Teddy's development is within the broad norms for his age and primarily affected by his complex diagnoses. Teddy is an active, positive boy who can sit independently and pulls up onto his knees. He slides on the floor to move around. Teddy babbles and loves to play with toys and with others. He imitates motor actions with his upper limbs and is well coordinated with his hands. Teddy differentiates between strangers and people he knows and responds with smiles to interactions with adults. He enjoys the company of other children, too. Teddy is fed by spoon. He eats and sleeps well. Our in-country representative visited Teddy and found him to be an extremely sweet, calm and good little boy. Teddy is curious about his environment, eagerly observes the happenings, and interacts easily with others. Teddy delighted in individual attention from our representative and enjoyed her physical affection, laughing out loud when teased and tickled. Teddy would thrive in a loving family.
