Sam's Story

Sam was born in April 2014. He has a history of Grade II protein-energy malnutrition and has been diagnosed with behavioral concerns, intellectual disability, strabismus, and a right-sided hydrocele. Sam is a healthy little boy with good muscle tone. He stands with support and is able to walk holding onto a caregiver’s hands or with a walker, although he prefers to crawl. He is coordinated and able to grasp and manipulate toys and objects appropriately. His vocalizations primarily consist of several syllables or sounds and echolalia. Sam eats well and sleeps calmly. He prefers attention from specific adults and will sometimes initiate contact with them. He shows some stereotypic behaviors such as moving his hands in front of his eyes, licking shoes, biting the bars of his crib, and head bumping when upset. Sam needs a family who will provide him with the love, support, and patience he deserves.
