Update September 2016: Emmett is a friendly little boy who has shown clear progress in his gross motor skills. He takes steps on his own while holding onto a fixed support, goes up and down stairs using the railings, and walks with an adult holding one of his hands. He can grab small objects, press buttons, and knock objects together. Curious Emmett happily moves around and explores his surroundings. He is interested in how things work and remembers how to use familiar toys. He currently expresses his emotions primarily through noises and shrieks; however, our in-country representative shares that Emmett is surrounded by nonverbal children in an orphanage with no speech therapist on staff. The consistency and resources of a forever family would greatly improve this kind-hearted little boy’s life.
