Duncan was born in February 2001 and has been diagnosed with myopia. His development is mildly delayed and he may have a learning disability. Duncan is a healthy, inquisitive child who has age appropriate gross and fine motor as well as language skills.  He is well oriented in time and space, properly allocates and switches his attention, and memorizes.  Duncan is a student in sixth grade where he attends regularly.  He struggles with math and works with a resource teacher for this purpose. Duncan loves to read and has a great imagination based on what he is learning from books.  He also enjoys drawing and using tools to build.  Duncan does not interact much with peers and takes a while to establish contact with unfamiliar people. Duncan lived with his biological mother until he was five years old during which period he experienced physical abuse from his mother's partner.  He moved to an orphanage in December 2006 and has been living with a foster family since December 2011.  Duncan is attached to his foster mother and treats her with great respect.  He is obedient and follows instructions to a T.  He also has a very positive relationship with his foster uncle with whom he likes to invent and create and who serves as an adviser for him.  Duncan does not fully understand the concept and process of adoption, but adapted very well to life in his foster family.
