Darcy was born in September 2004. She is a healthy child with well-developed gross motor, fine motor, and expressive language skills. Cheerful Darcy likes school, where she works with a resource teacher several hours a day to assist with her attention span and focus.  Following an evaluation by a clinical psychologist Darcy was diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and mild intellectual disability. She has made significant progress in her most difficult subject, reading, and currently reads at approximately a 3rd grade level.  Darcy will enter 6th grade in the 2016/2017 school year.  One of her caregivers shares that Darcy shines when she receives individualized attention in combination with patience. Darcy is a sociable and caring girl who interacts well with others and has many friends. She is protective of the younger children and has one specific friend with whom she shares many toys and activities. Darcy diligently completes all tasks assigned to her, including educational activities and household chores.  While she sometimes acts impulsively she often self-corrects her behavior. Darcy endeavors to keep her appearance neat and manages personal hygiene skills with some prompting from the staff.  She has good manners and is respectful of adults. Darcy is an agile girl who enjoys running, playing active games, and gymnastics. She is interested in nature and likes animals. One of her favorite activities is playing with dolls, where she always takes on the role of mother. Our in-country representative shares that Darcy dreams of being part of a family and strives to improve herself in the hopes of increasing her chances of being chosen.  This kind, goodhearted girl with a sparkle in her eyes would blossom under the love and one-on-one attention of a forever family.
