Alfred was born in April 2003 and has been diagnosed with infantile cerebral palsy, mild spastic quadriparesis, congenital anomaly of the excretory system – malformation of the right kidney as well as chronic obstructive pyelonephritis - and developmental delays. Alfred is a calm and positive child who walks independently in the orphanage and on its grounds, including up and down stairs. He is coordinated and well oriented within this environment. Alfred can drink from a cup and eat without assistance, scribble, catch a ball, and unlock/lock doors with a key. He is trip-trained during the day time with his toileting needs. Alfred vocalizes actively and uses single words as well as responds when speech is directed toward him. He is curious about everything that happens in his surroundings, especially when there are visitors. He is very interested in mobile phones, tablets, cameras, etc. as well swinging and listening to music. Alfred enjoys interacting with his caregivers and actively seeks contact, but does not play much with other children. However, he observes them intently. Alfred lived with his birth family for five years and was severely neglected in their care.
