Norton was born in September 2002. He is healthy and his development is on target. His communication skills are well developed, and he has a very good vocabulary and easily expresses his thoughts and feelings in interactions. Norton currently attends 5th grade where he shows good concentration, steadiness of attention as well as appropriate abilities for allocation of attention. His potential for academic success is good, but he lacks motivation. Norton has many friends and gladly joins other children in games. He does well performing different roles in a story and at symbolic play, but prefers quiet games that do not involve much competition and require good communication and cooperation instead. Norton has been living in a foster family for almost two years.

Update January 2015: Our in-country representative visited Norton and found him to be an active yet calm boy who is open, sociable, and intelligent. He is emotionally well balanced for his age and reaches out to adults when he needs help. Norton does well in school and is focused and thorough when he completes his homework. He has many friends and tends to avoid conflicts. Norton plays soccer on a regular basis and his team has won several medals in tournaments.

Norton lives in a good foster home, but sometimes he feels that he cannot dream big for himself and reach toward what he would really like to accomplish in life. Norton is waiting for a family to give him both roots and wings on his way to adulthood.

Update July 2015: Our in-country representative visited Norton again and found him to be a well-behaved boy with a really positive attitude. He has completed sixth grade and, despite a lack of motivation, has done well. He continues to love soccer, plays of a successful team, and dreams of a career in the sport. Norton also likes riding his bike, reading books, playing on the computer, listening to music, watching TV and hanging out with his friends. His favorite book is Tom Sawyer because of the small mischief Tom instigates. Norton is kind to animals and takes the dog that lives at his foster home out for walks.

Norton has older siblings who do not wish to be adopted, but he himself has expressed a strong desire to find a family, stable home, and better opportunities for his life. He's a young teen with great potential who just needs guidance, support and encouragement to thrive.
