Eugenia was born in August 2002 and is healthy. She lived with her birth family for the first ten years of her life during which time she did not attend school, causing academic delays and some psychological stress. Eugenia is a positive, happy girl with well developed gross and fine motor skills and good orientation in time and space. She communicates easily and expresses her emotions. Her self-help abilities are age-appropriate though she needs reminders still to take care of her appearance.

Despite enrolling in school late, Eugenia participates in class, has formed friendships with classmates and enjoys all school celebrations. She reads slowly, writes with some difficulty, but shows a good attention span and memory. She is socially well adapted and understands everyday life. Eugenia is an artistic girl and likes to paint, sing, dance, listen to music, and watch television. She is attached to certain adults and children and does very well when she feels someone accepts and appreciates her.

Eugenia lived with a foster mother for 22 months, but is now back at the orphanage. She has expressed a desire for permanence in her living conditions and wishes to be adopted. The staff at her orphanage believes that with the love and help of a devoted family, Eugenia will acquire all skills necessary for independent adult life.
