Axel was born in 2003 and has bronchial asthma for which he takes medication. He is allergic to house dust, mites, eiderdown and feathers. His development is on target.
Axel is an active, polite and socially well-adapted boy who interacts easily with peers and adults. He has a good vocabulary and active speech. His self-help skills are age-appropriate and include keeping his appearance neat and clean, proper table manners, and completing chores around the orphanage. Axel likes reading books, drawing, team games, sports, and being outdoors.
Axel is an inquisitive student who has completed fourth grade. He can read, write, count to 1000, add and subtract three digit numbers, and knows the multiplication table to 5. His memory and focus are well developed and he is a hard worker.
Axel came to the orphanage from a crisis center where he was placed after traumatic experiences in his birth family. He receives emotional and psychological support at the orphanage which show a positive effect on his feeling secure and on the development of his personality.
Update July 2015: Our in-country representative visited Axel and found him to be a well-mannered, very bright, and sensitive boy whose development is on target in all areas. He forms long-lasting attachments and chooses his friends carefully. According to the psychologist and chief nurse at his orphanage, Axel is a good child and student. He does very well at school and follows the rules and instructions in the academic and orphanage setting. He is very affectionate with people he knows and tells funny stories, but may briefly withdraw or get momentarily angry in situations that frustrate or offend him. Axel quickly recovers from these feelings and overcomes any perceived challenges.
When asked to tell about himself, Axel shared that he enjoys going to school and loves to read. He keeps a diary and likes watching movies and listening to music. Axel believes in God and goes to church when he has the money to buy a candle. He prays about any difficulties he encounters.
Axel understands adoption and hopes to be adopted by good people into a family with whom he can get along. He would love to have a sibling. Axel has great potential and would thrive in a loving and supportive forever home.
