I discovered Creating A Family in late 2014 while searching for podcasts on parenting, and it changed my life. I’ve known for a long time that I wanted to adopt (and possibly foster) children of my own. I was adopted from foster care as a baby, and I want to be able to provide the same kind of stable and loving environmnent to a child that I was given growing up.
To begin with, the podcast itself was incredibly informative. It opened up entirely new horizons for me, giving me a glimpse into a world that was a lot more vast than I had ever suspected. After listening to several of the episodes, I ventured over to the Creating a Family website and promptly read through almost every book and article I could find from the resource pages.
Encouraged by what I’d read and listened to, I finally ventured onto the Creating a Family Facebook page, and found a diverse and welcoming group there who were not only willing to answer my questions, but were also supportive, caring, and incredibly fun.
They encouraged me in my quest to start a family of my own, which is why I am currently in the midst of PRIDE adoption training and a home study application. I am hopeful that I will soon have a child (or children) to call my own, and it will be at least partly thanks to Creating a Family and all their fantastic work.
