Fertility treatment with in vitro fertilization (IVF) is expensive, but it is possible to lower the cost. Various techniques are being used to lower the cost of IVF.
- There are ways to lower the cost of the medications used during IVF, which can result in substantial saving.
- Some infertility doctors have lowered the cost of IVF cycles at their clinics by paying careful attention to every cost and reducing procedures that may not be absolutely necessary.
- Other reproductive endocrinologists save money for patients by using less of the costly ovulation stimulation medicine (gonadotropins) in a process called minimal stimulation IVF.
- Still others use no injectable gonadotropins in natural IVF.
Infertility patients must balance cost with success rates, so ask questions.
