Q: How do I get over the fear that somehow I am jinxed. That something will happen to this pregnancy because my body has never done anything right when it comes to reproduction.
A: According to Dr. Ali Domar, it is incredibly common for women who conceived after infertility to not feel comfortable trusting their body to do things right during their pregnancy. However, one needs to remember that infertility is often caused by one specific factor, which has nothing to do with pregnancy. It can be an ovulation issue, sperm production, or a tubal problem, none of which relate to pregnancy. So just because there might have been a part of you or your partner which wasn’t working just right in terms of baby-making, that doesn’t mean that your body will have any issue with baby-growing. We know this because the vast majority of women who have a positive pregnancy test after infertility treatment go on to have a healthy happy baby.
