“Just Relax” Is Actually Harmful Advice

slide_254176_1590570_freeAnyone who has struggled with infertility knows how frustrating and demoralizing it can be when someone tells you to “just relax.”  Not only is it not helpful advice, it can make women feel even more isolated and alone.  Keiko Zoll, a contributor to the Seleni Institute, a nonprofit mental health and wellness center for women and mothers in New York City, has reviewed the scientific link between stress and fertility and talks about how a flippant reply like “just relax” can actually be damaging to a fertility patients mental health.  This article provides an excellent rebuttal next time someone tells you to “just relax.”
