Breaking news out of the New York State legislature today which prompts RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association to release this press release:

Today New Yorkers have a lot to celebrate! They will get a fair shot at a family!

Thanks to NY Governor Andrew Cuomo and the state Legislature, they have agreed to include IVF and fertility preservation insurance coverage in New York’s state budget bill. The new law requires large group health insurance plans statewide to cover 3 cycles of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and requires all commercial insurance plans to cover medically necessary fertility preservation treatments.

We want to thank our passionate network of New York advocates, physicians and clinic staff, and a strong coalition of like-minded non-profits and pharmaceutical partners who have been working on increasing access to infertility treatments and fertility preservation for years. Your hard work has finally paid off for New York families.

This makes New York the 10th state to require insurance coverage for IVF treatment. That is huge progress! You can read RESOLVE’s full statement here.

Don’t forget, RESOLVE is partnering with ASRM for Advocacy Day, May 15th and 16th in Washington, D.C. You can be part of making a big difference like the advocates in New York State!
