Egg freezing is advertised as a way for women to preserve their fertility until they’re ready to have children, but a new study in the Journal of the American Medical is questioning the validity of that idea. According to the latest IVF statistics from SART, the odds of a live birth are almost 20% higher when fresh eggs are used. It’s not a perfect comparison – women who are using IVF often have underlying fertility issues that could decrease the odds of success – and there are lots of variables that could be affecting the statistics, but it’s an important point to consider when planning your fertility.
