Foster/Adoptive Parent Support Group Curriculum

Foster care support group curriculum
Peer-to-peer support is one of the most effective strategies for supporting foster families or families after adoption, but support groups are hard to maintain! The most effective support groups provide a balance of discussion, general venting, and education, but this takes time and the last thing most facilitators have is time. To remedy this problem, we created our 10-month turnkey support group curriculum. It is trauma-informed and expert-based covering topics directly relevant to foster and adoptive families.  Each month comes with a video, facilitators guide, handouts, and list of additional resources.

Some of the topics covered include:

  • Overcoming Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Managing Expectations
  • Understanding the IEP Process
  • Parenting Neglected Kids
  • Handling Sensory Issues
  • Parenting a Child that has Been Sexually Abused
