ccaiAn urgent reminder was released this week by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) regarding the 2016 fee changes for adoption-related forms.

From their email alert: “On December 23, 2016, the fee for the form to request a U.S Certificate of Citizenship for adopted children (N-600/N-600K) is doubling from $550 to $1,170. Anyone who files an adoption application or petition on or after December 23rd will have to pay the new amount. If your child still needs a U.S. Certificate of Citizenship, please act prior to December 23rd!”

The CCAI alert offered a very helpful blog post from the National Council for Adoption, which includes a video and “FAQ” about the changes. The reminder also included the official U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services email and a link to the specific USCIS page that details all of the adoption-related form fee changes with descriptions of each form.

Even though these are the first fee changes by the USCIS in six years, they represent some hefty increases for many families affected by the change. Please consider sharing this alert with those you know might be affected, in order to save them time and money before December 23!
