What Can You Do to Increase Your Chances of Getting Pregnant

The top five things you can do to increase the odds of getting pregnant (other than obviously having sex during your fertile times) according to Dr. Sheeva Talebian, with Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York are as follows. These tips will apply regardless whether you are trying on your own or with the help of fertility treatment.

1. Eat Healthy.

You don’t need to go overboard, but focus on healthy proteins, lots of fluids, and fruits/vegetables. Avoid artificial sweeteners and limit yourself to only one caffeinated beverage a day.

2. Get enough sleep.

Adults should be getting about 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night. Don’t shortchange yourself during this important time.

3. Exercise in moderation.

Now is not the time to train for your personal best, but regular exercise is important. If you haven’t exercised in the past, pick something that you think you might enjoy and that you think you will stick with. Consider finding a partner to help keep you motivated.

4. Live and enjoy life.

Remember to have fun! Live, love, laugh, and enjoy your life while on the journey to parenthood.

I LOVED Dr. Talebian’s advice to continue to live your life while trying to get pregnant. Her response to a question about whether a woman should give up an occasional glass of wine while trying to conceive is brilliant and compassionate.

5. Stay Positive.

When struggling to conceive, it is important to surround yourself with positive influences. I can’t recommend enough the Creating a Family Facebook Support Group.

These tips were given in the radio interview with Dr. Sheeva Talebian on the Creating a Family show of Lifestyle Choices That Increase Your Chances of Getting Pregnant. I truly enjoyed this show and her common sense, upbeat approach to trying to conceive.
