One thing that helped my husband move from “liminal” to “lets go” was adoptuskids.org or in Texas it is TARE. Here he saw the real faces of children available and realized: 1. The numbers of available children was enormous. 2. That they (pardon the expression) look just like everyone else. Society portrays orphans as dirty face tattered clothes, & he had (right or wrong) a mental image that wasn’t reality based. He is now excited and looking forward to adding to our family through foster adoption. Quick plug: I learned about adoptuskids.org listening to Creating a Family podcasts. 🙂
Thanks for the plug Amy! It’s a great website and I’m glad your husband is fully on board.
